Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch trucks for pickup and delivery of freight.
- Assign loads to drivers based on availability, routes, and deadlines.
- Monitor truck locations and status using tracking systems.
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and brokers to resolve delays or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, load confirmations, and delivery times.
- Negotiate rates with brokers or shippers when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service and regular updates to clients.
Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years of truck dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination (preferred).
- Strong understanding of US trucking regulations and freight market (if dispatching internationally, specify region).
- Proficient in dispatch software, load boards (DAT, Truckstop), and GPS tracking tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, email, CRM).
- Flexible schedule — ability to handle calls outside standard working hours if needed.
